Self-Improvement-Fitting The Puzzle Pieces Together

Your desire for self-improvement will define you, your business and your life.  For the self-employed business owner, entrepreneur or solo professional fighting to survive and to move to the next level of stability focusing on self-improvement is the last thing they think of to take them to next level.

As a small business coach I have watched countless success stories where the business owner overcame challenges and grew himself and his business.  How did he do it?  He focused on self-improvement.

Self-Improvement Is About Changing Your Thinking

I start with thinking because this is the foundation for all self-improvement.  As Napoleon Hill said; “What the mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve.”  Thoughts are things.

When you change your thinking you will change your habits.  When you change your habits you will change your activities.  When you change your activities you will change your results.  When you change your results you will change your business and your life.

Therefore, whether you are starting your own business or running a small business, step one in self-improvement is to change your thinking.

Self-Improvement Is About Preparation

Self-improving leaders and team players think about how they can improve today—not some far off time in the future.  Look for your potential learning moments.  At the end of today ask yourself this question.  What have I learned today that I need to learn more about tomorrow?

Self-Improvement Is About Contemplation

In personal development coaching or coaching small business success I believe that contemplation is extremely important.  We must take time to reflect and evaluate.

There is a statement I once read that said; “If you study the lives of the truly great individuals who have influenced the world, you will find that in virtually every case, they spent considerable amounts of time alone—contemplating, meditating, listening.”

Time alone is essential to self-improvement.

Self-Improvement Is About Application

In the steps to self-improvement applying what you’ve learned is sometimes difficult because it requires change.  Most people change only when one of three things happens: they hurt enough that they have to, they learn enough that they want to, or they receive enough that they are able to.  Your goal is to keep learning so that you want to change for the better every day.

Self-improvement is not a destination. It is an ongoing life-long endeavor.  Commit to self-improvement and you will embrace the process of having more in your business and life.
