Small Business Success: Are You Trying To Flying Solo?

Are you trying to fly solo? Too often I have heard smart business people say that the secret to small business success is if you want things done right then you have to do it yourself.  If you think about it that is a no growth formula.

In fact, it is the formula for small business burnout.  Let’s take a look at geese.  They are a flock of them and they fly in formation.  When a goose falls out of formation, it suddenly feels the drag and resistance of flying alone.  Before it fell out it was easier to fly in formation.

Why? Because the uplift of the wings of the birds in front adds 71% more flying range to the entire flock. And yes, they do rotate leaders because the lead birds, if they had to stay out front would tire.

When you start a small business or are running your own business the same paradigm that holds true for the geese holds true for business.  If you are going to try to do it all yourself and fly solo it will be a huge struggle.  It will be a huge investment of your time and energy.  This can take the joy out of life. And, you won’t make the forward progress that you desire.

Does any of this sound familiar?  When you are starting a small business it may be necessary for you to do everything yourself.  But, as the business grows it is not possible to keep it flying in formation for success if you don’t delegate or outsource to have others help you.

How do you avoid wearing out and having your business crash?  Very simply, you must plan for growth.  Prioritize what it is as you grow that you must first delegate, if you have employees, or outsource.

Success in business and life is not about more money.  It is about having more plan.  If you have more plan, you increase your odds greatly of having more money. What is having a good business plan for success?

There are many components.  But, if you are starting out by flying solo the most important thing is to know and commit to what has to be done to give your business the form, or formation like the geese, for success.

Have a plan to find the right people or hire the right services to build your formation and fly to small business success.  When you have a plan and follow it, things will become easier and you will have positioned yourself for growth and more importantly, to enjoy life.

The geese have a destination and so do you.  The geese need to work hard to get somewhere to where they can enjoy themselves.  As a small business owner you have the same challenge.

Take a lesson from the geese.  Learn how to construct your formation and lead it and you too can fly to success. Flying solo may get you off the ground, but when you are in the right formation then you are more to experience long term success.
